After three years of arduous bureaucratic wrangling, our incorporation as an independent school has finally gone through! We will be opening the school year 2010 as Harriet Tubman Democratic High School. HUZZAH!

AERO Conference

HTFS student Kristin Diodonet presented a keynote speech to a record crowd (700+) on the opening night of this year's AERO Conference. Drawing from her own varied educational experiences and her astute criticism of education in America, Kristin highlighted the importance of educational alternatives in today's world.
High School Art Makes History

HTFS student Kristin Diodonet received honorable mention for her piece in the "High School Art Makes History,” art show sponsored by the Colonie Art League. The contest was geared toward high school students in Albany County to commemorate Albany’s Quadricentennial Celebration.
In the fall, the Colonie Art League will exhibit the work of the winners at the Colonie Art League’s “Art Meets History - Celebrating 400 Years” Quadricentennial Art Exhibit at the Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center, 25 Quackenbush Square, Albany from Sept. 26-Dec. 31.

Congratulations to Rashid Howell, Joshua Fick, and Kristin Diodonet for their victory in the KidWind Challenge, a competition sponsored by the KidWind Project to design the "most elegant and powerful wind turbine."
